Tip #3 Avoid eating heavy meals late at night. It takes effort to digest and metabolise food at a time when the body should be resting, which can then delay your ability to fall asleep. So, eat early and if you can’t eat early then try making lunch your main meal with just a light meal in the evening. If we are what we eat, are we therefore, what we eat, ate? That balanced gut microbiome that power us through the day and dictates our energy, moods, allergies, appearance and so much more is a finely tuned eco-system. The trillions of microbiota that make up our microbiome are there working with us. But when we shower them with sugar, processed foods, lectins, antibiotics (particularly broad spectrum) are we inviting the bad guys into the neighbourhood?... You bet we are! Keep our wonderful eco farm powering along by treating it with respect. Eat to feed your microbiome. Make sure to have a wide diversity to your diet. Make sure that when choosing your food or supplements you know what the ingredients are and that they are natural. The principal of eating what we ate, ate, means that if your protein source is chicken, make sure you know what it ate. If its factory ‘made’, it’s gonna be pumped. Do you want that in you? If your lectin intolerant (it’s a plant protein made to stop us eating the plant’s babies) are you going to feel worse after a piece of chicken that has eaten gluten in its diet? If that same chicken has had a standard feed with antibiotics in it, will that also kill off some of the microbes in your microbiome? Oh yeah!
